Houston's Wilson, Wichita State's Palen Take Home Final Track & Field Weekly Honors

IRVING, Texas The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly outdoor track & field awards for the week ending Sunday, May 7.
 
Men’s Track Athlete of the Week
De’Vion Wilson, Jr., Houston
Wilson paced the field at the Tom Tellez Invitational, winning the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 13.42 seconds, just one-hundredth of a second off his American leading time this season.  While already ranking 6th in the country in the event, his time from this past weekend would be the 7th best time in NCAA Division I.
 
Men’s Field Athlete of the Week
Brady Palen, Jr., Wichita State
Palen cleared 2.15 meters (7’0.5”) in the high jump to win the Shocker Open. The jump marks the fourth time this season that he has cleared seven feet. While already ranking 9th in the nation with a jump of 2.19 meters, his clearance of 2.15 meters this past weekend would be the 25th best mark in the country.
