Eight American Athletes Claim All-America Honors on Final Night of 2023 NCAA Division I Track & Field Championships

AUSTIN, TexasEight athletes brought home All-America honors on the final night of competition at the 2023 NCAA Division I Track & Field Championships on Saturday night at Mike A. Myers Stadium on the campus of the University of Texas.
 
A trio of American athletes competed in high jump with Cincinnati’s Taylor Beard taking home the highest finish in 8th place, clearing 1.84-meters to earn First Team All-America Honors. Teammate Annika Kinley cleared 1.78 meters to finish in 21st place, while Wichita State’s Destiny Masters earned Second Team All-America Honors with height of 1.81 meters to finish in 16th place.
 
In discus, Samantha Lenton of Memphis finished in 5th place with an all-time American Athletic Conference throw of 58.96 meters to earn a spot on the First Team All-America team.
 
Rayniah Jones finished with Second Team All-America honors in the 100-meter hurdles, finishing in 9th place with a time of 13.00. Teammate Asherah Collins also earned Second Team All-America honors, finishing in 10th place in triple jump with a distance of 13.48 meters.
 
Houston’s 400-meter hurdler Sydni Townsend brought home Second Team All-America honors with a 9th place finish in the event after running a time of 56.27.
 
Tulane’s heptathlete Kristen O’Handley earned Honorable Mention All-America status with an 18th place finish in the heptathlon. She finished the seven events with 4,755 points.
