AUSTIN, Texas – SMU long jumper Raelyn Roberson earned Second Team All-America status, while UCF and Houston both qualified an athlete for finals at the 2023 NCAA Division I Track & Field Championships at Mike A. Myers Stadium on the campus of the University of Texas.
Roberson jumped 6.04 meters to finish in 14
th place in long jump as the Mustang earned Second Team All-America honors. Fellow American athlete, Jasmine Scott-Kilgo of UCF, earned Honorable Mention All-America honors with a jump of 5.95m to finish in 17
th place.
Rayniah Jones returns to the finals of the NCAA Track & Field Championships in the 100-meter hurdles, earning the eight seed with a time of 12.91. Teammate Kaylor Harris finished in 22
nd place with a time of 13.82 to earn Honorable Mention All-America honors.
Jones also earned Honorable Mention All-America honors in the 100-meter dash, finishing in 24
th place with a time of 11.52. UCF’s Kiah Williams finished in 21
st place in the 400-meter dash with a time of 52.34, also earning Honorable Mention honors.
Also qualifying for the finals was Houston 400-meter hurdler Sydni Townsend. Townsend clocked a 55.95 to earn the 7
th seed in the finals on Saturday.
Cincinnati’s Rylee Penn finished the season an as Honorable Mention All-America honoree in the 1,500-meter run, finishing the race in 20
th place with a time of 23.34. Teammate Leonie Troeger finished in 17
th place in javelin with a throw of 50.02 meters to earn Honorable Mention All-American honors, while Memphis’s Amber Simpson wrapped up her season in hammer throw in 24
th place with a throw of 59.24 meters to earn her Honorable Mention All-America honors.
