Tulsa Defeats North Texas 3-1 on Thursday Night

The Tulsa volleyball team entered the North Texas Volleyball Center Thursday and came out with a 3-1 (22-25, 25-23, 25-19, 25-21) win over the North Texas Mean Green in the first of two road matches in Denton, Texas. The Golden Hurricane improves to 9-6 overall and 2-2 in American Athletic Conference play, while North Texas drops to 9-8 overall and 3-1 in league action. 

Graduate outside hitter Kayley Cassaday and sophomore Beth Bayless led the Tulsa attack. Cassaday knocked away 16 kills, while Bayless slammed down 12 kills. The pair combined for 82 of the Hurricane's 138 total attacks in the match. 

Senior setter Avery Kalsu passed the ball efficiently, putting up 35 assists at 8.75 assists per set. She also chipped in seven digs on the defensive side. 

The defensive effort was led by sophomore middle blocker Camryn Lingenbrink, who led the court with a block solo and eight block assists on the night. She helped Tulsa amass 12 blocks compared to the Mean Green's eight. Junior libero Marta Pecalli led the Hurricane with 10 digs.
