IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly indoor track & field awards for the week ending Sunday, January 28.
 
MEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Abdul-Rasheed Saminu, So., South Florida
Saminu set a South Florida program record in the 60-meter dash, running a 6.67 at the PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational. In Louisville He has the top time in The American this season and the 36^th best time in the NCAA this season.
 
MEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Ese Amata, Sr., Rice
Amata tied the Rice school record in high jump that was set in 1989. He cleared a height of 2.18 meters at the Robert Platt Invitational. Amata won the event, claimed the top jump in The American this season, and the 9^th best jump in the NCAA.
 
WOMEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Ta-Halia Fairman, R-Sr., Charlotte
Fairman came away with two Top 40 times in the NCAA at the Clemson Bob Pollock Invitational on Jan. 26. She ran the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.54, the 30^th best time in the nation this season, and helped anchor the 49ers 4x400 team to a time of 3:40.14, the 40^th best time in the NCAA.
 
WOMEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
KeAyla Dove, Sr., North Texas
For a second straight week Dove broke The American conference record in shot put, this time at the Robert Platt Invitational in Houston. With a throw of 17.85 meters, she claimed first place, improved on her American record and has the 4^th best throw in the NCAA as of Jan. 28.
