IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly swimming and diving awards.
SWIMMING ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Andrea Zeebe, Junior Tulane
Zeebe won two events against Liberty last weekend, including the 100-yard backstroke (55.62) and the 400-yard individual medley (4:26.31). The 100 back is the top time in the conference this season, while the 400 IM time ranks second. She also finished third in the 200-yard backstroke (2:03.07) and 200-yard freestyle (1:52.29) which rank second and third in the conference, respectively.
FRESHMAN SWIMMING ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Varvara Gkiouzepa Petropoulou, Tulane
Gkiouzepa Petropoulou finished first in the 200-yard butterfly in a conference-leading time of 2:01.47 against Liberty last weekend. She also placed second in the 100-yard butterfly in 56.95 and fifth in the 400 IM in 4:31.42. Both of those times rank seventh in the conference this season.
DIVING ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Frida Zuniga Guzman, Redshirt Junior, East Carolina
Zuniga Guzman won both springboard events against NC State in a diving-only meet on October 18. She won the 1-meter event with a score of 300.68 and the 3-meter event with 327.53 total points. Both scores are NCAA Zone qualifying scores.
FRESHMAN DIVING ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Sophia Clack, Florida Atlantic
Clack finished second in the 1-meter diving event against Keiser with a score of 225.60 and placed third on the 3-meter boards with 209.55 total points.
