No. 2 South Florida Defeats No. 7 North Texas, 1-0, in Quarterfinals of 2024 American Women’s Soccer Championship

LAKEWOOD RANCH, Florida – No. 2 seed South Florida defeated No. 7 seed North Texas, 1-0, on an 11th-minute goal by Anna Sutter in the second quarterfinal of the 2024 American Women’s Soccer Championship Monday, November 4 at the Premier Sports Campus in Lakewood Ranch, Florida.
 
With the win, the Bulls (12-2-4) advance to face No. 3 seed East Carolina in the semifinals on Thursday, November 7 at 4 p.m. ET on ESPN+. The Mean Green fell to 7-6-6 on the season.
 
In the 11th minute, South Florida’s Ava Rightmire fired in a cross to Sutter, who controlled the pass, then fired in the shot from just outside the top of the box.
 
The Bulls led in shots 24-6, including 11-3 in shots on goal. AAC Goalkeeper of the Year Leire Herraez Gallach made three saves, including one in the last five minutes, to keep the clean sheet.
 
North Texas’ Maddie Ogden recorded 10 saves.
