IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference saw two men's soccer players selected during the 2025 MLS SuperDraft.
Charlotte’s Ian Pilcher 24th overall pick by San Diego FC, while FIU’s Michael Appiah will be staying in Miami after being selected 82
nd overall by Inter Miami.
Pilcher was an integral part of the 49ers defense as he helped anchor the backline that led Charlotte to back-to-back American Athletic Conference championships. Pilcher was the 2024 American Preseason Defensive Player of the Year and was a unanimous First Team All-American Athletic Conference selection.
Appiah started in 11 matches for the Panthers and appeared in all 18. He scored four goals on the season and helped lead the Panthers to the American Athletic Conference Championship game. He finished second on the team in goals scored and total points (8).
