South Florida, Peacock Win 2024 American Men’s Golf Championship

BELLEAIR, Fla. – South Florida, behind Jake Peacock’s tournament best 6-under 64 in the final round, won the 2024 American Athletic Conference Men’s Golf Championship by five strokes over SMU.  Peacock won the individual championship, shooting a three-day score of 11-under 199.
 
The average score over the course of the tournament was 71.92 across 179 completed rounds.
 
For a conference leading sixth time, South Florida won The American Men’s Golf Championship. The Bulls shot a three-round total of 12-under 828.  Peacock led the Bulls in scoring, while teammate Brock Healy finished tied for sixth place at 2-under 208. Sam Nicholson finished tied for 1- place, shooting an even par.
 
SMU finished in second place, shooting a three-day score of 2-under 835. William Sides was the Mustang’s top scorer and finished in third place at 4-under 206. J Holland Humphries and Zach Kingsland tied for 8th place at 1-under 209.
 
Wichita State shot their best round of the tournament at 2-over 278 to finish with a three-round score of 2-over 842 and finish in third place..  Michael Winslow moved up 15 spots in the standings to finish tied for 4th place at 3-under 207. 
 
Memphis finished in fourth place, shooting 7-over 847. Andrew Baucum and Esteban Vazquez tied for the Tiger lead at 2-over 212 over three rounds.
 
North Texas rounded out the top five, shooting 13-over 853. Tucker Allen finished as the individual runner-up in the tournament, shooting 6-under 204.
 
Other top ten finishers included Charlotte’s Conor Gough (t4th place; 3-under, 207), Florida Atlantic’s Max Sturdza (5th place; 2-under 208), Temple’s Ethan Whitney (t8th place; 1-under 209) and East Carolina’s Tyler DeChellis (t8th place; 1-under 209).
