IRVING, Texas – The American Conference has announced the weekly men’s basketball honors for the first week of the regular season.
Player of the Week
Rowan Brumbaugh, R-Jr., G, Tulane
Brumbaugh helped lead the Green Wave to its fourth-consecutive 2-0 start by averaging 22.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 3.0 steals in wins over Samford and Texas State. The redshirt junior posted 12 points, six rebounds and five steals in the season-opening win over Samford last Monday night before dropping 33 points, six assists and four rebounds in a come-from-behind win over Texas State on Saturday.
Freshman of the Week
Jarne Elouna Eyenga, F, Charlotte
Elouna Eyenga averaged 6.5 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists as the 49ers opened their season with wins over Indiana State and Tennessee Tech. In his collegiate debut, the forward nearly registered a double-double with 10 points and eight rebounds.
Honorable Mention
Ben Bradford, So., G, Charlotte
Bradford averaged 20.5 points in two 49er wins, including a career-high 31 points in the season opener against Indiana State.
Quante Berry, Jr., G, Memphis
Berry posted 17 point and four rebounds, and was 4-of-6 from 3-point range, in the Tigers’ season-opening win over San Francisco on Saturday.
Josh Omojafo, Sr., F, South Florida
Omojafo averaged 25.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists as the Bulls split a pair of games to open the season.
Aiden Tobiason, So., G, Temple
Tobiason led the Owls with 23 points, four steals and three rebounds in a season-opening win over Delaware State on Wednesday.
Kenyon Giles, Sr., G, Wichita State
Giles helped lead the Shockers to a 2-0 start by averaging 17.5 points in wins over UNC Asheville and Prairie View A&M.
