LAKEWOOD RANCH, Florida – No. 7 seed South Florida defeated second-seeded Charlotte, 3-0, in the first quarterfinal of the 2025 American Women’s Soccer Championship, Monday, November 3 at the Premier Sports Campus in Lakewood Ranch, Florida.
With the win, the Bulls (9-8-2) will play the winner of No. 3 seed Tulsa and No. 6 seed Rice in the semifinals on Thursday, November 6 at 4 p.m. Eastern on ESPN+. Charlotte falls to 10-6-2 on the season.
In the sixth minute, South Florida’s Yui Suetsugu was taken down in the box, and Sadie Sider-Echenberg stepped up and converted a penalty shot to give the Bulls the early lead.
The lead was doubled in the 16
th minute when Noelle Sather fired in a shot from outside the box after the 49ers failed to clear the ball.
Sofia Cabral made the lead 3-0 in the 53
rd minute off a nice assist from Gentiana Fetaj.
Leire Herraez Gallach recorded 10 saves to keep the clean sheet for the Bulls. Harlee Head made four saves for the 49ers.
