LAKEWOOD RANCH, Florida – Fifth-seeded UTSA defeated No. 4 seed UAB, 2-1, in the third quarterfinal of the 2025 American Women’s Soccer Championship, Monday, November 3 at the Premier Sports Campus in Lakewood Ranch, Florida.
 
With the win, the Roadrunners (9-5-5) will play the winner of No. 1 seed Memphis and No. 8 seed East Carolina in the semifinals on Thursday, November 6 at 7 p.m. Eastern on ESPN+. UAB falls to 7-6-6 on the season.
 
In the 31
st minute, UTSA’s Michelle Polo scored her fourth goal in the last six matches, off assists from Bri Carrigan and Ava Jackson.
 
The Roadrunners doubled their lead in the 57
th minute when Aaliyaiah Durden scored off a pass from Leah Varela.
 
The Blazers clawed their way back in the 79
th minute when Avery Berryman fed Lailah Stewart and she found the bottom right corner of the net, but UTSA did not allow a UAB shot the rest of the way.
 
Jasmine Kessler made four saves in goal for UTSA in the win, while Leah Parsons recorded seven saves for the Blazers.
