Three players from The American, Yaxel Lendeborg of UAB, Memphis' PJ Haggerty and Temple's Jamal Mashburn Jr, have been named to the Oscar Robertson Trophy Midseason Watch List, it was announced by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association on Monday. In addition, Haggerty has been named one of the 10 midseason candidates for the Jerry West Award, the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced on Tuesday.

Lendeborg is leading the Blazers in points (17.6 ppg), rebounds (10.4 rpg), assists (4.4 apg), blocks (1.7 bpg) and steals (1.5 apg) this season while shooting a team-high .568 from the field. The senior forward has been named the American Conference Player of the Week twice this season while earning Oscar Robertson Starting Five of the Week honors once.

Haggerty is averaging 21.6 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 2.1 steals per game for No. 17 Memphis (18-4, 8-1 American). He is a four-time American Player of the Week this season and is the No. 4 scorer in the nation entering Tuesday.

A two-time American  Player of the Week honoree, Mashburn Jr. currently ranks second nationally in scoring at 22.1 points per game and sits atop the AAC scoring list. During conference play, he has taken his game to another level and is averaging 25.0 ppg and is shooting 44.4 percent from three-point range as the Owls stand in fourth place with a 6-3 record.

In 1998, the Oscar Robertson Trophy was named in honor of the University of Cincinnati Hall of Famer and two-time USBWA Player of the Year Oscar Robertson. It is the nation's oldest award and the only one named after a former player.

Named after Class of 1980 Hall of Famer and 1959 NCAA Final Four Most Valuable Player Jerry West, the annual Jerry West Award recognizes the top shooting guards in Division I men's college basketball.
