IRVING, Texas – Charlotte and South Florida have been selected to compete in the 2025 NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Championship, while four individuals also earned at-large bids, as announced during the Golf Channel selection show on Wednesday afternoon.
Six 54-hole regional tournaments will be conducted to determine the 30 qualifying teams and six individuals (not on those qualifying teams) who will compete in the finals. Thirteen teams and 10 individuals (not on those teams) will compete at each of three regionals while the other three regionals will have 14 teams and five individuals (not on those teams). The low five teams and the low individual not on those teams will advance to the finals. Team and individual medalist titles will be decided May 23-28 at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California.
Charlotte, the 2025 American Athletic Conference champion, secured the league’s automatic bid earlier this month at the Ritz-Carlton Members Club and earned the No. 7 seed in the NCAA Bremerton Regional. South Florida, receiving an at-large selection, will join the 49ers in Bremerton as the No. 5 seed.
Two Rice golfers — Lukas Boandl and Daniel Zou — were selected as individuals and will also compete in the Bremerton Regional. Yixiang Wang of Memphis will participate in the Auburn Regional, while NaShawn Tyson of Florida Atlantic will compete in the Tallahassee Regional.
Charlotte is making its 20th NCAA Regional appearance — and its first as a member of The American. The 49ers are coming off a thrilling double-playoff victory at the American Men’s Golf Championship and are eyeing their fifth trip to the NCAA Championship and first since 2015. They will compete at the Gold Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton, Washington.
South Florida will make its 11th NCAA Regional appearance — and second consecutive — having previously made nine straight appearances from 2013 to 2022. The Bulls are led by Jake Peacock, the 2025 American Golf Player of the Year and individual champion at the conference championship. They will also compete at Gold Mountain Golf Club, aiming for their fifth NCAA Championship appearance and first since 2022.
