South Florida Wins 2025 American Softball Championship

05.10.25

TAMPA, Fla. No. 2 South Florida overcame a four-run deficit to defeat No. 4 North Texas 5-4 in the American Softball Championship final game. It marks the first American Softball Championship for the Bulls.

North Texas started off hot to begin the game.  Riley McNemar got on base with a single before Elizabeth Moffitt brought her home with a two-run home run to center field.

The Mean Green continued scoring in the second inning. With two runners in scoring position, McNemar connected on a line drive down the left field line to score both runners and push the lead to four runs.

The Bulls began the bottom of the fourth inning with back-to-back doubles from Josie Forman and Alanah Rivera to put the first run on the board. A sacrifice fly from Karhys Pierce cut the deficit to two runs.

Alex Wilkes continued the comeback for the Bulls in the sixth inning with a lead-off solo home run to left center field.

Following an hour rain delay in the sixth inning, the Bulls scored the game-tying run with an RBI double from Pierce. Brooks came through one batter later with a sacrifice fly to right field to score the go-ahead run.

South Florida’s Belle Sardja was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player, earning both wins for the Bulls in relief effort, not allowing a run in 6.1 innings in the circle.
