IRVING, Texas – The American Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly men’s soccer awards for the week ending Sunday, September 14.
Offensive Player of the Week
Fumiya Shiraishi, Sr., F, Missouri State
Shiraishi added two more goals to the season to help the Bears open conference play with a 4-0 win over Temple. Shiraishi leads the nation with eight goals on the year.
Defensive Player of the Week
Owen Travis, Gr., D, FIU
Travis anchored the backline for the Panthers as FIU shut out Memphis in the American opener, 1-0, allowing just two shots on goal.
Goalkeeper of the Week
Jahiem Wickham, Jr., South Florida
Wickham produced his second clean sheet of the season, finishing with four saves in the 1-0 conference opening win over UAB.
Freshman of the Week
Wiktor Pucilowski, Fr., M, Charlotte
Pucilowski earned as assist for the Niners in the 2-1 win over Tulsa to begin conference play.
Honorable Mention
Andreas Evangelou, R-So., D, Charlotte
Evangelou scored the first goal of the game in a 2-1 win over Tulsa, while also allowing just five shots on goal.
Robert Franke, Jr., F, Charlotte
Franke came off the bench and scored his first DI goal in a the 2-1 win over Tulsa.
David Boccuzzo, Sr., M, FIU
Boccuzzo scored the game-winning goal for the Panthers in the 1-0 road win over Memphis.
Alex Matthews, M, Jr., Missouri State
Matthews anchored the backline for the Bears that allowed just two shots on goal in a 4-0 win over Temple.
