Saturday’s game will be the first meeting between North Texas and Western Michigan and will mark the Mean Green’s first game against any opponent from the state of Michigan … North Texas has gone 3-6 all-time against Mid-American Conference opponents, most recently a 27-14 loss to Miami (Ohio) in the 2021 Frisco Football Classic.

North Texas dominated from start to finish in its season-opening 51-0 win against Lamar as the Mean Green limited its opponent to 119 yards of offense and registered its first shutout since 2003 (a 21-0 win against Troy) … North Texas finished with a 462-119 advantage in total offense and had 26 first downs to the Cardinals’ eight … The Mean Green held Lamar to 31 rushing yards and 88 passing yards … QB Drew Mestemaker completed 24 of 32 passes for 329 yards and three touchdowns, giving him two 300-yard games in as many career starts … WR Cameron Dorner had seven catches for 98 yards and a touchdown, while WR Wyatt Young had four receptions for 97 yards and two TDs …LB Ethan Wesloki had seven tackles, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.

Western Michigan looks for its first win of 2025 after the Broncos fell 23-6 at Michigan State last Friday … The Broncos fell behind 21-0 and limited the Spartans to just one safety in the second half, but the offense was unable to overcome the early deficit … Western Michigan finished with 217 yards of offense and 10 first downs and was limited to just 29 rushing yards … The Broncos’ only points came on a pick-six from S Tate Hallock late in the fourth quarter … QB Brady Jones completed 11 of 23 passes for 97 yards … WR Tallique Williams had a team-high six catches for 74 yards, while WR Baylin Brooks, a transfer from San Diego State, had a team-high 85 receiving yards … The Broncos went 6-7 last season, falling to South Alabama in the Salute to Veterans Bowl … Western Michigan visits Illinois next week before playing two straight at home
