Rice, UTSA, Wichita State Athletes Named Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly indoor track & field awards for the week ending Sunday, January 25.
 
Men’s Track Athlete of the Week
Josh Parrish, Jr., Wichita State
Parrish set a school record in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 7.70 seconds at the Mark Colligan Memorial. The time is the 12th fastest in the NCAA this season.
 
Men’s Field Athlete of the Week
Jemuel Miller, R-Jr., UTSA
Miller took home first place at the Ted Nelson Invitational in the triple jump with a leap of 15.69 meters.  It is the 25th best jump in the NCAA this season.
 
Women’s Track Athlete of the Week
Barbora Malikova, Jr., Rice
Malikova ran the second fastest 400-meter in Rice history with a time of 53.16 seconds – the 18th best time in the nation this season.
 
Women’s Field Athletes of the Week
Savannah Simms, Gr., Rice
Simms recorded the third best jump in Rice history in triple jump with a leap of 13.08 meters – the 12th best jump in the nation this season.
