Rice, UTSA, Wichita State Earn Weekly Track & Field Honors

IRVING, Texas – The American Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly indoor track & field awards for the week ending Sunday, February 15.
 
Men’s Track Athlete of the Week
Josh Parrish, Jr., Wichita State
Parrish improved his 60-meter hurdles time, finishing the race at 7.70 seconds.  The time moves him up to 26th in the NCAA this season. It is the second fastest time in the conference this season.
 
Men’s Field Athlete of the Week
Jayden Williams, Jr., UTSA
Williams took home first place in long jump at the Don Kirby Elite Invitational with a leap of 7.65 meters.  It matches his career-best and is 32nd in the nation this season.
 
Women’s Track Athlete of the Week
Barbora Malikova, Jr., Rice
Malikova ran a career-best 51.84 in the 400-meter, breaking the Rice program record held by Allison Beckford in 2002 (52.16). Her time moved her up to No. 11 in the NCAA this season.
 
Women’s Field Athletes of the Week
Ida Breigan, Jr., UTSA
Breigan took home the silver medal at the Don Kirby Elite Invitational with a season-best leap of 6.41 meters in long jump.  The distance moved her up to 18th in the NCAA.
