IRVING, Texas – The American Conference has announced the weekly men’s and women’s tennis honors.
Men’s Tennis Player of the Week
Marcos Castro Fabra, Freshman, Memphis
Fabra won three of four matches week, remaining undefeated in singles this year. At No. 1 doubles, the No. 87 duo of Fabra and Sam Reeve defeated Ole Miss’ No. 18 Isac Stromberg/Kai Milburn 6-2. Fabra then won at No. 3 singles over the Rebels’ Pietro Pampanin 6-3, 6-3. Against Indiana, Fabra bounced back from at loss in No. 1 doubles to rally and beat Jip Van Assendelft 6-2, 3-6, 6-4.
Women’s Tennis Player of the Week
Melisa Senli, Senior, South Florida
Senli won all four matches in singles and doubles play with clinching victories for the Bulls. Against Stetson, Senli played at No. 3 doubles with partner Francesca Miglio and helped take a 6-3 win that won the doubles point for the Bulls. Senli then took the victory at No. 1 singles with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Katia Tuliakova that clinched the match for USF. Against Georgia State, Senli again played at No. 3 doubles with Miglio and took a 6-4 win that won the doubles point for South Florida. Senil then took her spot on court one for singles and delivered a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Maria Paredes that also clinched the match for the Bulls.
