IRVING, Texas – The American Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly outdoor track & field awards for the week ending Sunday, April 12.
Men’s Track Athlete of the Week
Nathan Metelus, Sr., South Florida
Metelus won the men’s 400-meter dash during the South Florida Invitational on April 10-11 in Tampa, Florida. Metelus’ time of 45.80 was the third fastest in the American this season and ranked 19th in NCAA Division I as of April 14.
Men’s Field Athlete of the Week
Jack Greaves, R-So., Rice
Greaves bested teammate Ty Hampton to win the men’s javelin event at the 44 Farms Invitational on April 9-11 in College Station. Greaves’ closing throw of 74.22m (243-6.0) was the best in the conference thus far in 2026 and ranked ninth in the nation as of April 14.
Women’s Track Athlete of the Week
Julia Johannesdottir, So., Rice
Johannesdottir registered the fastest women’s 100-meter hurdles time in the conference this season while competing in the heptathlon at the 44 Farms Invitational on April 9-11 in College Station. Johannesdottir won the hurdles flight in 13.13, the 17th ranked time in the country as of April 14.
Women’s Field Athlete of the Week
Jelese Alexander, Sr., Wichita State
Alexander was a regular on the podium during the Arkansas Spring Invitational on April 11 in Fayetteville, Arkansas, posting a pair of top-15 national jumps. Alexander finished second in the women’s high jump after clearing a conference-best 1.83m (6-0) to rank ninth in the NCAA and added a win in the women’s long jump with an effort of 6.37m (20-10.75) to rank second in the American and 14th nationally as of April 14.
