IRVING, Texas – The American Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly outdoor track & field awards for the week ending Sunday, April 26.
Men’s Track Athlete of the Week
Darian Mills, Sr., South Florida
Mills posted a PR time in the men’s 400-meter hurdles while at the Penn Relays on April 23-25 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Mills’ time ranked second in the conference and 31st NCAA Division I as of April 27.
Men’s Field Athlete of the Week
Anthony Ward, So., North Texas
Ward finished in third place in the men’s long jump at the Michael Johnson Invitational on April 24-25 in Waco. Ward’s second jump of 7.72m (25-4.0) was second in the American this season and 32nd in the nation as of April 27.
Women’s Track Athlete of the Week
Aariyana Williams, Jr., North Texas
Williams won the women’s 400-meter dash at the Michael Johnson Invitational on April 24-25 in Waco. Williams’ time of 52.26 was first in the league and 44th in the country as of April 27.
Women’s Field Athlete of the Week
Josie Taylor, Grad, Rice
Taylor cleared 1.87m (6-1.5) to win the women’s high jump event at the J Fred Duckett/Rice Twilight Meet on April 25 in Houston. Taylor’s mark was tops in the conference this season and ranked sixth in NCAA DI as of April 27.
