IRVING, Texas – Fresh off defending its American Conference Championship at Southern Hills Plantation Club in Brooksville, Florida, Tulsa officially received the conference’s automatic team bid into the 2026 NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championship on Wednesday.
Charlotte’s Pinky Chaisilprungruang claimed an automatic selection to compete as an individual after finishing as the solo medalist at the American Championship. North Texas’ Malisone Chanthapanya and Bouquet Subsomboon also secured individual at-large bids into NCAA Regionals.
The NCAA committee selected 72 teams (including automatic qualifiers) and 36 individuals (including automatic qualifiers) not on those teams for participation at one of the six regional sites. Each regional site is comprised of 12 teams and six individuals (not on one of the selected teams). Five teams and the leading individual not on an advancing team from each regional site shall advance to the final site. Regional play will take place May 11-13 at six regional sites, and the national championship tournament will be held from May 22-27 at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California.
Tulsa, who captured its third all-time American women’s golf title with its defense at Southern Hills Plantation Club, will make its 22nd NCAA Regionals appearance all-time and fifth in the last six seasons (2021, 2023, 2024, 2025). The Golden Hurricane earned the No. 8 seed at the Waco Regional and will play at the Ridgewood Country Club in Waco.
Joining Tulsa at the Waco Regional will be North Texas’ Chanthapanya and Subsomboon, who were seeded third and fifth individually in the region, respectively. It will be the second time in three seasons that an American women’s golf program will be represented by a pair of teammates in NCAA Regional competition.
Charlotte’s Chaisilprungruang was selected as the top individual seed at the Chapel Hill Regional that will be held at the UNC Finley Golf Course in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Chaisilprungruang, a four-time individual winner thus far this season including her victory at the American Championship, was the top ranked American Conference player in the April 28 Clippd national rankings (39).
