Scott and Baptista Earn Weekly Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s cross country honors for the week ending Oct. 18.
         
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE MALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Marc Scott • Sr. • Tulsa
Scott was named the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division I Men's Athlete of the Week for his performance in the Wisconsin Adidas Invitational 8K race on Friday. The senior won with a time of 23:35.0 to lead the Tulsa men's cross country team to an eighth-place finish, eclipsing 14 higher-ranked opponents at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course. Scott used a late kick in the last half mile to edge out Justyn Knight of Syracuse and Sean McGorty of Stanford.
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Rachel Baptista • Sr. • Tulsa
Baptista finished 21st at the Wisconsin Adidas Invitational on Friday afternoon. The senior ran the 6K race in 20:09.6 to lead Tulsa to a 28th-place finish at the meet. In a field of 36 teams, 25 were ranked either in the top-30 of the USTFCCCA National Coaches' Poll or receiving national votes.
