IRVING, Texas – The American Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly cross country awards for the week ending Sunday, October 5.
 
Men’s Athlete of the Week
Maddon Muhammad, Sr., Charlotte
In a competitive field at the Joe Piane Classic in South Bend, Indiana, Muhammad finished in 19^th place in the 8,000-meter run with a time of 23:22.3. The senior set a new personal record for the 8,000-meter race.
 
Women’s Athlete of the Week
Mercy Jepkoech, Fr., Wichita State
In a field of 269 athletes, Jepkoech earned a top-10 finish at the Chile Pepper Festival in Fayetteville, Arkansas, finishing the 5,000-meter race with a time of 16:54.2. The freshman finished above three other American schools competing in the race.
