Highlights
 
- The American faced the best in the nation, as all teams hit the trails over the weekend for their final regular season races.
 
- ECU turned in a stellar showing on its home course Friday evening, placing second in the both the men's and women's races of the Pirate Invitational. Senior Bakri Abushouk claimed the men's individual crown with an 8K time of 24:00 while junior Grace Sullivan emerged victorious on the women's side, finishing the 6K race in a time of 20:37 – matching her effort from the Paul Short run two weeks ago.
 
- Tulsa’s men's and women's cross country teams finished 30th and 32nd, respectively, against a loaded field at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational on Friday afternoon at the Thomas Zimmer Cross Country Course. Of the 35 men's teams in the race, 20 came into the event ranked by the USTFCCCA, while 14 of the 33 women's squads held a ranking. The tough competition served as a final tune up for both teams before the American Athletic Conference Championships, which will be run Oct. 28 in Philadelphia.
 
Joining the Golden Hurricane in running in the Nuttycombe was the UConn men’s team. The Huskies were led by Patrick Begley, who was the top UConn finisher with a time of 24:35.4, which was good for 80th place overall. The Husky team finished 34 of 35 teams.
 
Both the UConn men’s and women’s teams also ran in the Rothenberg Run in Warwick, R.I., where the Husky men finished third of five teams as Brown won the title, followed by Vermont, UConn, Rhode Island and Bryant.
 
The UConn women’s team placed six runners in the top-10 on its way to a first-place finish at the Rothenberg Meet. The title marks the Huskies’ third, first-place finish this season, as UConn nearly posted a perfect score with 16 points. Haley Hasty turned in her first, first-place finish of the fall with a time of 17:24.
 
 - USF hosted a non-scoring meet that welcomed nearly 20 teams and a substantial crowd. Rania Samhouri led the women's team for the fifth consecutive meet with a 5k time of 19:28.4, which earned the talented freshman a 20th-place finish. Cash Tampa shined with an eighth-place finish among nearly 100 runners in the men's 8k. Tampa led the Bulls for the second straight meet with a time of 26:25.9.
 
UCF also ran in the Bulls’ race. Running on the 5K course at The Claw on the USF campus, five of the Knights finished in the top 50. Kalleigh Forrester led the way, crossing the line in 19:01.7 for 10th place. Beth Williams continued her strong rookie season, taking 13th with a time of 19:15.3.
 
- Wichita State men's team placed ninth in the 8k Red Race and the women were 15th in the 6k Red Race Friday afternoon at the Bradley Pink Classic on the Newman Golf Course. After a week off, Wichita State's men entered the race ranked No. 13 in the Midwest Region. The Shockers placed ninth out of 28 teams, which featured 217 runners. Wichita State's women's team finished 15th out of 31 teams in the 6K Red Race, which featured 247 runners.
 
-  Julian Sanchez-Pinto, Matthew Kamph and Arnica Zitting all logged top-35 finishes to pace the Tigers at the 2017 Crimson Classic. The Memphis women ran in a 31-team field that featured over 275 runners, while the men ran in a 29-team field that featured over 250 runners.

Highlights
 
- Four American teams competed against the nation’s top cross country programs at the Pre-National Race was held at E.P. “Tom” Sawyer Park, which will serve as the course for the NCAA Cross Country Championship meet in November.
 
The Houston men opened the action in the Men’s 8,000-meter Seeded race. Senior Brian Barraza kept pace with his strong season and crossed the line first for the Cougars in a 10th place finish in 23:22.1.
 
The women’s Houston team closed action at the Pre-National meet with the 6,000-meter Unseeded Race. For the second-consecutive race, Jennifer Dunlap was the first Cougar across the line when she finished in 22:25.6 to take 75th.
 
In just her second meet of the season, Hannah Miller was SMU's top finisher at the Pre-National Invitational. With 297 competitors in the field, Miller placed 45th overall on the 6 kilometer course with a time of 20 minutes, 41.8 seconds. The meet served as a precursor for the NCAA Championships with 11 nationally-ranked teams competing. The Mustangs finished 23rd overall.
 
Emmanuel Rotich continued his marvelous season at the Adidas Pre-National Cross Country Meet, Saturday morning, at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer Park in Louisville, Ky., claiming his third first-place finish of the year with a time of 23:47.1 in the men's black 8k race.
 
Rotich beat the second-place finisher by 16.4 seconds, as he led Tulane men's team to a no. 15 place finish for the second consecutive year. Last season, Rotich placed first at the Pre-National, posting a time of 24:36.5 and crossing the finish line ten seconds ahead of the second-place runner to lead the Tulane men to a no. 15 place finish. On the women's side, seniors Lauren Bartels and Emma Newton lead the Green Wave to a no. 39 place finish, recording finishes of 21:28.1 and 21:42.7, respectively.
 
The Cincinnati men were led by Nick Grismer, who finished 71st overall in the 8,000m race to lead the Bearcats for the second meet in a row. On the women's side, true freshman Sam Mikula took top honors for the Bearcats as she crossed the finish line of the 6,000m race in 84th.
 
- Marc Steinsberger was the Owls' top finisher at Princeton taking the No. 8 spot. The Esslingen, Germany native finished the men's 8K race in 24:17.9, a career best time. Grace Moore placed sixth at West Windsor Fields, completing the 6K in a personal best time of 21:32.9.
