Trio of Winners Claim Final Weekly Cross Country Honors of 2019

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly cross country honors for the combined weeks ending Sunday, Oct. 13 and Sunday, Oct. 20. It marked the final edition of the weekly awards prior to the 2019 American Athletic Conference Cross Country Championships on Friday, Nov. 1 at Shelby Farms Park in Memphis, Tennessee.
 
Co-Male Runner of the Week
Aaron Bienenfeld * Sr. * Cincinnati

Bienenfeld picked up his second race victory of the season, besting 131 other runners in the Men’s 8K White race at the Under Armour NCAA Pre-National Invitational on Oct. 19 in Terre Haute, Indiana. Bienenfeld’s winning time of 24:04.5 was more than 40 seconds faster than the event’s runner up.
 
Co-Male Runner of the Week
Peter Lynch * R-Jr. * Tulsa

Lynch led Tulsa to a third-place team finish at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational in Madison, Wisconsin, besting 14 top-25 teams in the meet field in the process. Lynch crossed the finish line in 23:56.1 for an individual 14th-place result.
 
Female Runner of the Week
Winny Koskei * Jr. * Wichita State
Koskei claimed her second weekly honor of the year following a strong seventh-place finish at the Under-Armour NCAA Pre-National Invitational in Terre Haute, Indiana. Koskei’s time of 20:23.8 in the 6k was among the fastest times in The American in 2019.
