PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly cross country honors for the week ending Sunday, Sept. 8.
 
Male Athlete of the Week
Ben Flowers * Jr. * Wichita State
Flowers bested 167 other competitors in the men’s 6K race at the JK Gold Classic in Wichita to claim the race victory with a time of 18:38.2. Flowers’ performance propelled the Shockers to a 31-point team victory in the men’s standings over Big 12 foe Kansas State.
 
Female Athlete of the Week
Winny Koskei * Jr. * Wichita State
The reigning American Athletic Conference champion made a dynamic season debut at the JK Gold Classic, as Koskei took the race win in the women’s 4K with a time of 13:48.5. Wichita State claimed the top four spots in the race standings to earn the team title over Missouri State.
