Tulsa Sweeps Cross Country Runners of the Year Honors

IRVING, Texas The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s 2022 Runner of the Year awards for cross country, as voted on by the conference’s cross country head coaches.
 
American Men’s Runner of the Year
Cormac Dalton, R-Jr. - Tulsa
Dalton becomes the third Tulsa men’s athlete to claim Men’s Runner of the Year honors and second straight Golden Hurricane to earn the award. Dalton had a dominate postseason display for Tulsa, beginning at the American Athletic Conference Championship where he finished in 2nd place with an 8k time of 23:52.2. He followed that performance with a 4th place finish at the NCAA Midwest Regional, running a 29:42.1 in the 10k. Dalton finished the season by gaining All-American status with a 15th place finish as the NCAA Championships where he ran a 29:16.0 in the 10k.
 
American Women’s Runner of the Year
Chloe Hershenow, R-So. - Tulsa
Hershenow claims the Women’s Runner of the Year award after winning the American Athletic Conference Championship with a 6k time of 20:50.4. At the NCAA Midwest Regional in Stillwater, Oklahoma, Hersehnow qualified individually for the NCAA Championship with a 4th place finish in the 6k where she ran a 20:12.4 race. She was the lone American student-athlete to compete at the NCAA Championships.  She finished 135th overall with a time of 20:49.6 in the 6k in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
