Former Knight Ricardo Gouveia Wins European Challenge Tour

UCF alum Ricardo Gouveia took medalist honors at the NBO Golf Classic Grand Final in Oman on Nov. 7. With the win, Gouveia also secured the European Challenge Tour’s No. 1 ranking in record setting fashion.

In securing the double win, the former Knight also shattered the Challenge Tour earnings record previously held by Edoardo Molinari. Gouveia’s season earning’s totaled more than €250,000, officially surpassing Molinari’s total by €8,612.

“It was an amazing afternoon,” Gouveia told EuropeanTour.com, “A great week and I just have no words to describe this season.”

Gouveia shot 13-under par for the tournament (67-67-75-65=275) saving his best for last. During the final round, he hit five-consecutive birdies on the back nine, notched a final round 65 (-7) and ultimately overtook Denmark’s Joachim B. Hansen by a single stroke.

“It was great to close out both trophies, the rankings and this event,” Gouveia said. “That was my goal for the week, to win the event, and I was a bit far back in the middle of the round but then got it going on the back nine.
