American Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Championship Seeds Announced

– UConn earned The American regular-season title for the third consecutive season and clinched the No. 1 seed in the 2016 American Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Championship. The conference tournament takes place March 4-7 at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn.  
 
Package and single-session tickets are still available for the championship. Tickets may be purchased online at www.MoheganSun.com or www.Ticketmaster.com, by telephone at (800) 745-3000 or in person at the Mohegan Sun Arena box office daily between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m.
 
The tournament will be carried on the ESPN family of networks, with Monday’s final scheduled for 7 p.m. ET on ESPN2. The semifinal games on Sunday will be televised on ESPNU, while the quarterfinals and first round will be on ESPN3.

As the No. 1 seed, UConn will play its first game of the tournament on March 5 at 2 p.m. ET, when the Huskies face the winner of Friday’s first-round matchup between No. 8-seeded East Carolina and No. 9-seeded Cincinnati. UConn clinched the regular-season title outright with an 88-41 win over SMU on Wednesday.
 
USF earned the No. 2 seed in the conference championship for the second straight season. The Bulls begin the tournament against either No. 7-seeded SMU or No. 10-seeded UCF on Saturday at 6 p.m. ET.
 
Temple claimed the No. 3 seed after finishing the regular season with a 13-5 conference record. The Owls will play at 8 p.m. ET in the nightcap of the quarterfinal round against No. 6-seeded Tulsa or No. 11-seeded Houston.
 
Memphis will be the No. 4 seed and will face Tulane, the No. 5 seed, in the opening game of the quarterfinal round on Saturday at noon ET.
 
The winner of the American Athletic Conference Championship will receive the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA Championship.
