Women’s Volleyball: 3 teams reach 20 wins this season; Shockers claim share of The American title

Highlights
 
- Wichita State21 and SMU remain the only two teams in the race for The American championship with just three conference matches left to play. The two teams will meet on Sunday, Nov. 19 in Dallas. With its win tonight, Wichita State clinched at least a share of the conference title. If the Shockers win on Sunday, they will capture the automatic qualifier to the NCAA Tournament.
 
Wichita State21 3, Tulsa 0
The Shockers won 3-0 against Tulsa and have swept nine of their last 10 opponents and six straight foes in a row. Wichita State also secured the second-longest winning streak in conference history with 17 consecutive victories. The Shockers hit .348, while holding the Golden Hurricane to hitting .109, as Tabitha Brown and Abbie Lehman each hit over .400 and reached double figure kills to combine for 28 total. The Shockers won the Havoc in the Heartland rivalry series against the Golden Hurricane, having defeated them on Oct. 15 too.
 
Memphis  0, SMU 3
SMU is also on a winning streak after earning its fifth straight victory with a 3-0 win over Memphis. The second-place Mustangs needed the win to stay in the conversation for the conference title, as they prepare to host the first-place Shockers on Sunday. Lauren Mills recorded her 18th double-double this season with 13 kills and 10 digs, as Brittany Adams also hit in the double digits with 11 kills and a .385 hitting percentage. The Mustangs improved to 20-8 overall, reaching the 20-win mark for the fifth straight season.
 
UCF 3, Temple 0
UCF improved to 9-8 in American action, capturing its third straight sweep victory with a 3-0 win over third-place Temple. With the victory, the Knights knocked Temple out of contention for the conference title. Kia Bright earned her league-leading 19th double-double with a match-high 15 kills and 10 digs. The Knights secured the season sweep over the Owls, having defeated Temple in five sets on Oct. 1.
 
USF 3, UConn 1
USF defeated UConn on the road to earn its seventh conference win of the season on the Bulls’ final Friday match of the year. USF has won two in a row and was led by Priscilla Ehieze, who reached a match-high 10 kills with a .381 hitting percentage.
 
ECU 3, Houston 2
The Pirates battled back from a 0-2 deficit and earned their first 20-win season since 2005 after outlasting Houston on the road in a five-set thriller. Natalie Montini and Ashton Mares each had 14 kills to lead the comeback, as setters Shelby Martin and Madison Clark each had double-doubles to guide ECU’s offense. The Pirates led 15-9 in blocks with Montini earning seven stuffs. The Pirates are in fourth place in The American with an 11-6 record.
 
Cincinnati 3, Tulane 1
After dropping the opening set, the Bearcats rallied to win-out the final three frames and earned a four-set win over Tulane. Maya Muldrow had 11 kills and seven blocks, while hitting .529. Carly Nolan chipped in with a match-high 17 kills. Cincinnati is locked in fifth place in the conference standings with a 10-7 record.
