USF Falls to Wisconsin, 3-1

  • USF right-hander Kalen “JoJo” McGill took a gem into the eighth inning of No. 20 USF’s 3-1 loss to undefeated Wisconsin on Thursday night.

  • McGill (0-2) struck out eight batters before Wisconsin (5-0) put together a three-run eighth inning in the first game of the Michele Smith Pediatric Cancer Foundation Tournament. McGill, a junior transfer from College of Central Florida, scattered six hits while becoming the first USF pitcher to throw a complete game this season.

  • Junior Lauren Evans (Land O’Lakes, Fla.) raised her batting average to .308 with a 2-for-3 performance at the plate. Evans hit a two-out single in the eighth to keep the Bulls’ rally alive after AnaMarie Bruni scored from second on an error to open the inning.

  • With the loss, the Bulls fell to 3-3 overall, while Wisconsin improved to 6-0.
