Highlights


Houston freshman Trystan Melancon made her first career win a memorable one, firing a no-hitter in a 12-0, five-inning run-rule of Rhode Island on Friday night at Cougar Stadium as part of the Houston Classic.Melancon logged the 16th no-hitter in program history and first since Bailey Watts blanked Louisiana-Monroe on Feb. 18, 2012. The native of Tomball, Texas, retired her final 14 batters faced and recorded a career-high eight strikeouts.

USF split day one of the Michele Smith Pediatric Cancer Foundation Tournament, picking up a huge 10-0 win over Binghamton, before falling to No. 14 James Madison, 5-0. For the day, Astin Donovan finished 6-for-8, while freshman AnaMarie Bruni went 4-for-7 to lead the Bulls.


Tulsa split a pair of games at the Strike-Out Cancer Tournament on Friday evening, bouncing back in the bottom of the seventh against Toledo in a 5-4 win before falling to host-FAU 5-1.


Back in her home state of California, UCF freshman first baseman Jazmine Esparza registered her first career hit - a walkoff single - in the ninth inning to lift the Knights over Cal Poly, 2-1, on Friday at the Mary Nutter Classic.
 

Memphis picked up a split Friday afternoon at the DeMarini Desert Classic hosted by UNLV. In game one of the day, Memphis fell by a score of 2-1 to Boise State before defeating Utah State by an 8-0 margin in five innings.

East Carolina began the Pirate Clash and opened its 2017 home schedule Friday evening by defeating Bryant 9-5 before falling to Saint Francis in a 1-0 pitchers' duel.
