With both teams putting up crooked numbers on the scoreboard, UCF used a ball put in play by freshman catcher Autumn Gillespie to notch a walkoff 11-10 eight-inning victory over Providence in eight innings on Friday night.
East Carolina pounded out 22 runs on 19 hits with nine home runs to pick up a pair of run-rule victories over Portland State and Seton Hall on day one of the Louisville Slugger Invitational at Simoni Field on the campus of the University of the Pacific.
Houston picked up two big wins, run-ruling Princeton, 14-1, in five innings, before claiming a 6-5 edge on a walk-off single from sophomore Brooke Vannoy against Sam Houston State in the nightcap on Friday at Cougar Softball Stadium as part of the Houston Hilton Plaza Classic.
Clutch hitting and solid pitching led Memphis to a pair of 5-3 victories Friday evening over Belmont and Arkansas-Pine Bluff at the Blues City Classic. The Tigers improve to 6-7 on the year after the Friday sweep.
USF picked up its tenth win of the season, a 1-0 victory over Georgia State, before falling to Syracuse, 2-1, in the first day of the Under Armour Invitational.
Tulsa took both games of their weekend-opening doubleheader on Friday afternoon, defeating Incarnate Word in the opening game of the day before earning an extra innings 3-1 victory over Saint Francis. Tulsa moved to 10-7 on the year with the pair of wins and have won six out of the last seven games.
