East Carolina earned its second-straight shutout in American Athletic Conference play Friday evening, using effective pitching and the long ball to record a 9-0, five-inning victory over UCF at the ECU Softball Stadium.
The Purple and Gold entered the weekend ranked fifth nationally in total home runs (41). East Carolina will take on UCF in game two of the series Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m.

th shutout of the season in the win while junior right-hander Emily Watson picked up her seventh complete game shutout this year.
The Hurricane will wrap up their three-game series against Memphis tomorrow with a doubleheader, beginning at the newly scheduled time of 1 p.m. Game three is scheduled to be played following at approximately 3:30 p.m.
