Cougars Shut Out Georgetown






Houston picked up its fourth straight win in a 10-0, five-inning shutout of Georgetown on Tuesday night at Cougar Softball Stadium.With the win, the Cougars improve to 10-11 overall, while the Hoyas fell to 4-15. The shutout is Houston’s second of the season after previously blanking Rhode Island, 12-0, in five innings on February 17.

Freshman Trystan Melancon ran her record to 4-5 behind three scoreless innings, scattering two hits with no walks and two strikeouts. Freshman Hannah Wolfe logged the final two innings in the circle, working around two hits with one walk and two strikeouts.

The Cougars had 10 runs on nine hits. Redshirt sophomore Sarah Barker highlighted the offense with a 2-for-3 performance with two RBI, three runs scored and a stolen base.

The Cougars will continue their current homestand with a doubleheader against Prairie View A&M on Friday, starting with a 4 p.m. first pitch.
