Tulsa, Houston, and USF pick up wins to end the weekend series

Sophomore Savannah Heebner hit a two-out, walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh inning to fuel the University of Houston Softball team to a 2-1 victory and American Athletic Conference series sweep over East Carolina on Sunday afternoon at Cougar Softball Stadium.

With the win, the Cougars improve to 23-20 overall and 8-4 in The American, while the Pirates fall to 25-26 overall and 5-10 in league action. The series sweep is the second for Houston on the season and third overall series win in conference play.

Celebrating the careers of seniors Kassie Moeller, Kristen Wyckoff and Susan Wysocki, the USF softball team earned a 4-2 win over Memphis to sweep the series for a Senior Day win.

In the first inning, USF sent nine batters to the plate, notching four runs on five hits. The Bulls loaded the bases with no outs on an error, and pair of hits, before Bethaney Keen and Lauren Evans each drove in a run.

Tulsa picked up their third American Athletic Conference series sweep on Sunday morning with an 8-0 win over UConn in five innings at Burrill Family Field. The Hurricane (33-13 Overall, 11-1 The American) had seven different players record a base hit while four drove in at least a run in the win as they won their seventh straight contest overall and seventh straight in league play.
