Houston team run-ruled Lamar, 11-2, in five innings and fell 6-0 to split a doubleheader on Tuesday evening at Cougar Softball Stadium.With the decisions, the Cougars move to 17-17 overall, while the Cardinals migrate to 18-19.
Sophomore Maya Thomas paced the Cougars with a three-hit showing on the day. Thomas went 2-for-3 with a double, 2 RBI and a run scored in game one, before following with a 1-for-2 effort in game two.Senior Shelby Miller belted her team-leading ninth home run of the season with a three-run home run to left center to cap the 11-2 run rule in game one.
Memphis came away with a doubleheader sweep over UT Martin Tuesday afternoon. The Tigers took the early lead in game one and held on for a 5-4 victory before rallying late in game two, winning by a 6-2 margin. Memphis improves to 22-16 on the year after the sweep.
Junior shortstop Kyler Trosclair became Memphis' all-time stolen base leader after stealing second in the top of the first inning of game one. She surpassed Leandra Hines' previous record of 57.
