USF and Tulsa earn conference wins on Friday

Stellar pitching plus a three-run fourth inning led  USF  to a series opening shutout win over Houston Friday evening. The Bulls improved to 32-21, 9-6 with the 3-0 victory, while Houston fell to 26-24, 10-6.

After three scoreless innings, the Bulls took the lead they would never relinquish in the fourth. The Bulls and Cougars will meet for game two of the series Saturday, May 6, at 3 p.m.

Emily Watson became the second player in program history to reach 300 strikeouts in a season and Rylie Spell launched a two-run homer to lead Tulsa to a 3-0 win over UCF in Friday's series opener at Collins Softball Complex.
 
Watson scattered eight hits over seven scoreless frames for her 12th shutout of the campaign to lead the Golden Hurricane (37-13, 15-1 AAC), who won their 11th consecutive game. The junior now only trails Amiee Creger's 354 strikeouts on the school's single-season charts.
