Highlights
 
 - Wichita State is off to a 2-0 start in 2017. The Shockers used a dominating blocking performance to win its season opener with a 3-0 win over Lipscomb at the LUV Invitational. Wichita State had 15 total blocks, led by a career-high eight from Emily Hiebert. Tabitha Brown led the Shockers with 11 kills and hit .409, and she also added five blocks. The Shockers followed with a second sweep victory over East Tennessee. Hiebert had five kills, 32 assists, four service aces, 14 digs and three blocks, while Brown led the Shockers with 15 kills and hit .317.
 
 - The Green Wave swept their doubleheader, winning the first and second match, 3-2 and 3-0, against South Alabama, and improved to 3-1 overall on the season. Tulane has won three straight, while Lexie Douglas ended the weekend with 40 kills and 39 digs.
 
 - After falling twice yesterday, SMU picked up its first win of the season, sweeping Texas A&M - Corpus Christi to conclude the action at the weekend. The two-time conference defending champion powered for a .363 hitting percentage. Kendall Patterson had a double-double with 46 assists and 10 digs, while Meryn Kenney held  an impressive .668 hitting percentage with 11 kills and no attacking errors. Lauren Mills earned all-tournament honors.
 
- ECU carried its momentum into Saturday, starting off the morning with a second sweep victory, this time over Georgia State. Lael Ceriani fueled the Pirates’ offense with 12 kills (.346 hitting percentage) and had nine digs and two service aces. ECU ended its tournament with a 3-1 loss to Rutgers for a 2-1 record after opening weekend.
 
- Houston followed with the second American sweep victory of the day, defeating Southern in three sets. But later suffered a 3-2 loss in the tournament finale to host UT Arlington. For leading Houston in kills across all three matches, senior outside hitter Brianna Lynch earned All-Tournament honors. Lynch, who totaled 40 kills, averaged 3.08 kills per set.
 
- UConn ended the weekend  2-1 after sweeping St. John’s on Saturday. Junior defensive specialist Kennedy Arundel and classmate setter Emma Turner were named to the St. John’s All-Tournament team for their performances over the weekend.

- USF earned its first win of the season with a 3-0 victory over Arkansas-Pine Bluff in Its first match on Saturday. The Bulls recorded a .322 hitting percentage with Prascilla Ehieze and Doris Carter sharing the team lead of nine kills. However, USF took a 3-0 loss to LSU to end the night.
 
- Tulsa split the day, sweeping UTEP and falling to Montana in five sets. Freshman Emily Hubbard helped lead Tulsa with 18 kills in the matches, including 16 in the five-set contest against the Grizzlies.
 
 - Temple brought UMBC to four sets but dropped their second match of the year, 3-1, to the Retrievers. Izzy Rapacz notched her second double-double in as many matches, leading Temple with 14 kills and 12 digs. Rapacz also stuffed the stat sheet with four blocks and two aces. Temple then went the distance with Maryland, but suffered its second loss of the day in the five-set heartbreaker. Temple recorded a total of 18 blocks with Iva Deak leading the way with a career-high 10 stuffs.
 
- UCF had another close match in its second of the year, but came out on the losing end this time, falling to Duke, 3-2. Kia Bright had 14 kills and two solo blocks. The Knights later fell to Colorado State in four sets.  Bright tallied 53 kills in the opening weekend for an average of 3.79 per set 
 
- Memphis also went to five sets, but took the loss, as freshman Hannah Flowers had a match-high 16 kills and sophomore Tai Bierria added a double-double of 14 kills and 10 digs. The Tigers later dropped their final match of the weekend, 3-1, to Green Bay.
 
- Carly Nolan led the way for the Bearcats' offense as she tallied a team-high 11 kills and a team-high 10 digs for her first double-double of the year, but Cincinnati fell to No. 14 Kentucky to end the weekend 0-3.
