Cincinnati Holds Off Governors In Fickell's Debut

CINCINNATI, Ohio - Quarterback Hayden Moore threw three touchdown passes and Cincinnati took advantage of two Austin Peay turnovers to take a 26-14 win against the Governors in Luke Fickell's head coaching debut with the Bearcats. 



Moore completed 17 of 28 passes for 151 yards and three TDs, including a pair of second-quarter strikes that allowed the Bearcats to take a 14-7 lead into halftime.

Moore hit Tyler Cogswell for a 6-yard score late in the third quarter to give the Bearcats a 20-6 lead, but the Governors answered early in the fourth period to pull with six at 20-14.

Cincinnati put it away with 5:13 left in the fourth when Mike Boone capped a five-play, 42-yard drive with a 3-yard touchdown run.

Boone rushed for 100 yards on 19 carries for his sixth career 100-yard game.

Linebacker Malik Clements finished with 18 tackles to lead the Bearcat defense.

Quarterback JaVaughn Craig rushed for 92 yards and threw for 63 yards and a TD for Austin Peay, which saw its losing streak reach 28 games.
