Highlights
- SMU won its second straight match, defeating Ole Miss in four sets. The Mustangs handed the Rebels their second loss of the season, while SMU evens its record at 2-2. Kendall Patterson guided the Mustangs with 43 assists and 12 digs for her second double-double of the year. Lauren Mills and Brittany Adams joined her in earning a double-double, while Lexi Nordmann hit .423 with 14 kills, notching the match point.
- Tulane (5-1) is on a five-game winning streak after sweeping both Grambling State and Mississippi State. Dayna Kern had eight kills with no errors for a .667 hitting percentage against Grambling State. She also had four blocks in that match. Next, the Green Wave held Mississippi State to a .034 hitting percentage, while Kern had eight kills and six blocks with a .333 hitting percentage.
- Wichita State stayed flawless and undefeated, winning its fourth in a row without dropping a set. The Shockers took down IUPUI in three sets, completing their fourth consecutive sweep. Abbie Lehman hit .619 with 14 kills and two blocks.
- UCF went 2-0 on Friday and is off to a 3-2 start this season. Kia Bright powered for a double-double of 18 kills and 11 digs to fuel UCF’s offense to a 3-1 win over FAU to start off the weekend. Bright had a second double-double, as the Knights captured another four-set win against Florida Gulf Coast. Bright has reached double-digit kills in every match this year.
- Tulsa (2-2) defeated UMKC 3-1, as Emily Thorson surged for a double-double of 21 kills and 18 digs to lead the Golden Hurricane to victory. Three teammates joined her in the back row in recording double-digit digs.
- UConn picked up its third straight win over Iona in its home opener, sweeping the Gaels while holding a .342 hitting percentage. The Huskies held Iona to a -.040 hitting percentage. However, UConn’s streak came to an end with a close five-set loss to LSU. Kenya Cason had 18 kills with a .324 hitting percentage, while Kayla Williams added 16 kills and 10 digs for a double-double. The Huskies enter tomorrow with a 3-2 record.
- Memphis broke its three game losing streak and picked up its first win of the season in style with a three-set victory over UT Martin. The Tigers had two close 28-26 sets in which they came out on top in the first and third frames. The Tigers then fell to undefeated Central Arkansas, 3-0.
- Cincinnati also found its first win of the season, but it didn’t come easy. The Bearcats went the distance with its in-town rival Xavier, coming out on top, 3-2. Jade Tingelhoff recorded 51 assists and added 13 digs, while Carly Nolan had 17 kills and 21 digs. Each double-double was their second of the season. Erica Kostelac chipped in with a team-leading 20 kills.
- Providence hit .442 on the way to a sweep victory over ECU (3-2) to get things started at the Hatter Classic. The Pirates bounced back and won its second match of the day to end the night on a positive note with a 3-1 win over the host Stetson. A school-record 37-dig performance by libero Brandee Markwith and a career-high 20-kill effort by Lael Ceriani helped ECU pick up the win.
- The Bulls went 0-2 on the day. Priscilla Ehieze registered a .370 hitting percentage with 13 kills, but USF dropped its first match of the day to Stephen F. Austin before suffering a 3-0 loss to the host Mississippi State.
- Temple's offense struggled, hitting just .045, as they took a three-set loss to undefeated Colgate. The Owls are now 1-3 this year.
