- UCF, Cincinnati and ECU each completed weekend sweeps to extend their winning streaks on Sunday. The Knights and Bearcats each remain undefeated through Week 3 of American play with 5-0 records. Tulsa bounced back from a Friday loss, picking up its first conference road win of the season at USF.
Cincinnati 3, UConn 1
Cincinnati remained unbeaten in conference play after a 3-1 victory on the road at UConn. Defense played a big role as the Bearcats blocked a season-high 15 shots, led by a career-high performance from Dasha Cabarkapa who had 11. Abby Williams had a season-high 23 digs. The Huskies were held to a lowly .049 hitting percentage in the match.
Tulsa 3, USF 1
Tulsa earned its first American road win of the season with a 3-1 rout of USF at the Corral. Senior outside hitter Emily Thorson finished the match with a career-high six service aces, and added 13 kills while Elyse Savadove recorded a career-high in kills with 14. Jac’cara Walker had a double-double of 17 kills and 11 digs for USF.
ECU 3, Temple 1
For the second time in three matches, outside hitter Sydney Kleinman set a career high offensively as her 19-kill performance lifted ECU to a 3-1 American Athletic Conference victory Sunday afternoon at Temple. The Pirates have won five-straight four-set matches.
UCF 3, Wichita State 1
UCF extended its winning streak to 11 matches in a row and kept its perfect record in American Athletic Conference play against Wichita State in The Venue. Powered by double-doubles from Erin Olson and McKenna Melville, the Knights downed the reigning league champions 3-1 in a tightly contested battle.
