PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference women’s soccer week eight schedule saw No. 18/24 Memphis regain its spot atop the league standings after its bye week thanks a 2-0 week which garnered the Tigers a sweep of the weekly awards.
Offensive Player of the Week
Clarissa Larisey * So. * F * Memphis
Larisey nets her third Offensive Player of the Week accolade as Memphis has earned five of eight awards this season. The sophomore was everywhere in a 2-0 week for the nationally-ranked Tigers as she scored the game-winning goal against SMU and assisted on the deciding goal at Houston. She posted a second assist in the match versus the Cougars.
Defensive Player of the Week
Olivia Gauthier * Sr. * D * Memphis
The American Preseason Defensive Player of the Year earns her first weekly accolade after leading Memphis to its 10
th shutout of the year and 12
th victory. The senior also got in on the offensive side of the ball as she assisted on the equalizer in a come-from-behind win over SMU, a battle between two teams that were tied for first in the conference.
Goalkeeper of the Week
Elizabeth Moberg * So. * Memphis
Moberg also earns her third weekly honor of the year and second in three weeks after Memphis’ bye week seven days ago. The sophomore earned her 10
th clean sheet of the season as she leads the nation in shutouts. She made seven saves on the week to go 2-0 and allowed just a single goal at SMU.
Rookie of the Week
Tanya Boychuk * Fr. * F * Memphis
Boychuk becomes the first Tiger this season to collect the top rookie award. In another perfect week for Memphis, the freshman came up clutch as she fired home the game-winning goal at Houston for her second collegiate score.
