Highlights

UConn 2, Army 1

UConn (3-2) relied on a two-out RBI single from senior Emma Stanley in the seventh inning to break the deadlock with Army and stretch their current winning streak to three games. Sophomore pitcher Katie Koshes threw five scoreless innings for UConn, striking out three hitters and allowing just four hits. Sophomore outfielder Ashlee Dahman got the scoring started in the second, when she drew an RBI walk that scored Stanley from third to make it 1-0. After Army tied the score in the sixth, with two outs in the seventh, Stanley worked a seven-pitch at-bat and eventually hit a hard ground ball to third ruled as a hit. Nakama scored to retake the lead and eventual 2-1 win for UConn.

Tulsa 3, Houston Baptist 2
Houston Baptist struck first in the top of the third, but TU responded with runs in the fourth and fifth to tie the score at 2-2. Morgan Neal went 2-for-3 at the plate and drove in a run, while freshman Samantha Pochop earned her first collegiate victory after she came on in relief and yielded just an unearned run in 4.2 innings. Sarah Kosmata drove in the winning run in the bottom of the seventh as Tulsa (2-2) closed play at the Cowgirl Classic with a 3-2 victory over Houston Baptist on Sunday morning.

ECU 6, FIU 4
Down to its final two innings, ECU (2-3) scored six runs in that span to rally from a four-run deficit and record a 6-4 victory over host FIU to end the Felsberg Invitational at the FIU Softball Stadium. After a scoreless fifth, freshman outfielder Tyler King led off the top of the sixth with a triple and came around to score. Meredith Burroughs capped off the inning with a long home run to right field to leave the score at 4-2. Ashley Weingartz snagged a ball in right field for the second out and threw a dime to home plate to nail the lead runner from third and end the inning. A RBI single by freshman infielder Ashleigh Inae pulled ECU closer at 4-3 in the top of the seventh. A pitch launched well over the left field fence helped complete the comeback and give the Purple and Gold the final 6-4 advantage.
