Two American Athletic Conference women’s tennis teams are among the 25 squads listed in the first Oracle/ITA Division I Women’s Rankings of the 2019 spring season.
UCF is ranked No. 20 while Tulsa is No. 22 in the inaugural ranking.
UCF is coming off an historic season which saw the team earn their first at-large berth in the NCAA Championship. The Knights finished with a 20-5 record and went 5-1 against teams from The American. The Knights advanced to the second round of the NCAA Championship before falling to Miami (Fla.).
Tulsa is similarly coming off a history-making 2017-18 season as the Golden Hurricane advanced to the NCAA round of 16 for the first time in program history. Tulsa enjoyed a solid start to the 2018-19 season as the doubles tandem of Martina Okalova/Vera Ploner captured the ITA Central Region title.
The dual match portion of the 2019 season begins Saturday.
