Northwestern 9, Tulsa 1

Tulsa fell to Northwestern 9-1 on Saturday afternoon, as Josie Muffley extended her hitting streak to nine games and drove in the lone run for the Golden Hurricane. Three Tulsa errors led to six unearned runs in the contest and Samantha Pochop took the loss with three strikeouts and a pair of unearned runs allowed in two innings. Muffley broke up the shutout in the top of the fourth with the first homer of her collegiate career.

Florida A&M 7, ECU 5 (8 innings); Florida International 2, ECU 1

ECU continued play at the FAU/FIU Parent's Weekend Invitational Saturday, dropping a 7-5 eight-inning contest to Florida A&M in the afternoon before falling just short against host FIU 2-1 in the evening.

In the opener, Tate McClellan was 2-for-3 with a run scored and three RBI while Logan Wood and Rachel McCollum drove in a run each themselves. The latter pair also accounted for both of ECU's hits in the narrow setback to the Panthers.

Wichita State 10, Nebraska 1

Feeding off a six-run inning in the bottom of the fourth, the Wichita State softball team ended its home opener with a 10-1 run-rule win over Nebraska on Saturday at Wilkins Stadium. Laurie Derrico and Asea Webber led the way offensively, as Derrico extended her hit streak to six games while Webber's outing was the third time in four games where she collected two or more hits. Erin McDonald came up with her third win of the season in the circle, only allowing three hits in 4.2 innings pitched.

UCF 4, Chattanooga 1; Furman 3, UCF 2

UCF split its Saturday slate taking down Chattanooga, 4-1, but falling to Furman, 3-2. Kyra Klarkowski delivered three hits for the Knights including the go-ahead triple in the seventh inning to defeat the Mocs. Alea White picked up the win over Chattanooga to improve to 10-5 on the season, while Breanna Vasquez took the loss against Furman to move to 6-3 overall.

Aubrey Johnson and Cassady Brewer each collected two hits on the day with Brewer recording a double and Johnson one RBI. White earned her 10th win of the season giving her 53 career wins and 102 appearances. Her 11 strikeouts in one game was just one shy of tying her career high, which she set against Coastal Carolina in her no-hitter.

Houston 6, San Diego 5 (8 innings); UC Riverside 4, Houston 3

Houston split its doubleheader at the Highlander Classic on Saturday, taking down San Diego 6-5 in eight innings, before falling to UC Riverside by a score of 4-3. In Houston's first game of the day against the Toreros, the Cougars won in walk-off fashion, thanks to Arielle James singling in the game-winning run and scoring Bethany Busch. In the Cougars' second contest against the Highlanders, Houston took a three-run lead into the bottom of the seventh inning, but was unable to hold the advantage, as UC Riverside scored four times to win 4-3.

Sarah Barker collected a pair of hits in both games, going 4-for-7 on the day with a run scored. With a hit in each contest today, Lindsey Stewart has now reached base safely in each of her past 15 games.

Indiana 3, USF 2; USF 12, St. John’s 2 (5 innings)

USF came back against No. 17/16 Indiana for a 2-1 lead in the fifth inning, but ultimately fell 3-2, before run-ruling St. John's 12-2 in five innings. Four Bulls had multi-hit games in today's doubleheader, while AnaMarie Bruni went 12-for-19 with eight runs this week.
