Tulsa 5, Memphis 1
Chenise Delce tossed a two-hitter and struck out 10 as Tulsa took game one of the three-game American Athletic Conference series with a 5-1 win over Memphis on Friday afternoon at the Collins Family Softball Complex. Delce yielded just one run, a solo homer in the seventh, as she took a no-hitter into the sixth inning for the second straight home start and reached double-digit strikeouts for the second time this spring. Julia Hollingsworth, Morgan Neal and Mikayla Whitten each recorded two hits, with Neal putting Tulsa ahead for good in the fourth with her first home run of the campaign.
Ashley Threatt knocked in her fourth home run of the season in the top of the seventh for Memphis, extending her on-base streak to a team-leading 10 games. Alyssa Dean recorded the other Tiger hit in the fifth inning. Mariah Nichols struck out three batters in 5.1 innings of work as she took the loss.
UCF 6, ECU 2
UCF picked up its first road game in American Athletic Conference play Friday evening against ECU with a 5-1 win. Alea White tossed a two-hitter grabbing the win to improve to 16-6 on the season and 3-0 in The American. Cassady Brewer and Denali Schappacher led the Knights offensively both going 3-for-4 on the evening. Brewer collected a double and a run scored, while Schappacher drove in three runs and scored one run.
Tate McClellan and Courtney Layton notched both of the Pirates' hits, with McClellan collecting an RBI. Erin Poepping took the loss in the circle, allowing five runs on eight hits with a walk and two strikeouts in 4.2 innings of work.
USF 4, Houston 2
Lindsey Devitt went 3-for-3 in a back-and-forth matchup between the Bulls and the Cougars, as USF scored three unanswered runs with a pair of homers to take down Houston, 4-2, at Cougar Softball Stadium on Friday night.
Sarah Queen blasted two solo home runs, while Maya Thomas and Lindsey Stewart also collected hits in the contest. Presley Bell went the distance for the Cougars, tossing her eighth complete-game of the season.
UConn at Wichita State (PPD)
Friday's game between Wichita State and UConn was postponed due to rain and field conditions. The teams are now scheduled to play a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon.
