USF 3, UCF 1
USF won its eighth-straight conference game with a 3-1 victory over UCF in Orlando on Saturday afternoon. The Bulls have now won three straight conference series matchups. AnaMarie Bruni’s triple in the third inning gave USF the lead before the Bulls added two runs in the sixth off a UCF error and an RBI single from Meghan Sheehan. Nicole Doyle improved to 9-10 this season with the win, pitching 6.2 innings. She limited the Knights to just three hits and struck out two.
Takiya London paced the Knights offensively with a pair of hits including a double, while Breanna Vasquez took the loss after allowing one earned run on seven hits with two walks and six strikeouts. UCF recorded four hits with Tamesha Glover and Tera Testa also adding a hit each.
Houston 3, UConn 1
Houston clinched its second conference series win of the season on Saturday night with a 3-1 victory over UConn. Tonight's contest saw multi-hit outings from Maya Thomas and Arielle James, who each recorded three hits. Together, the two of them went a combined 6-for-7 on the night with a pair of runs scored. In the circle, Savannah Heebner went the distance and tossed her 16th complete-game of the season, surrendering just three hits in the process.
UConn scored its lone run in the first inning on Kiwi McDaniel’s RBI double, while Reese Guevarra and Alexus Lemus collected the other two hits for the Huskies. Katie Koshes took the loss, allowing nine hits and the three runs in six innings with one strikeout and four walks.
